At Maui Aloha Weddings we like to blog about new venues, special items concerning weddings and adventure weddings. Last night I had the best time in the world aboard the Alii Nui Royal Feast Dinner Cruise. It was definitely for royalty.
We boarded the beautiful catamaran at 5:30 and as we touched the deck, the crew member told us to remove our shoes as this was a barefoot cruise – even better. He handed us a bowl of fresh fruit and invited us down to the next deck to get ourselves a drink. This deck was where the bar was located and where dinner would be served.
Since there is no alcohol served while in harbor, we decided to have a ginger ale. What a treat! The ginger ale was like lemonade only with fresh ginger. The crew makes it and it was so good that I stayed with that the entire evening.
As we took off the wind was perfect and the crew put the sails ups. What a wonderful feeling to be sailing along the ocean into the sunset. What a beautiful sunset it was too. We were going 7 knots but it felt as if we were flying.
Right after we took off, the appetizer buffet was set out. It included many different kinds of fresh fruit, vegetables and cheeses with crackers. We sat next to the captain’s area eating our appetizers as we sailed along. It was a great night already.
The music was playing and when the song IT’S ALOHA FRIDAY, NO WORK UNTIL MONDAY came on, we were all singing and celebrating.
The crew was just wonderful. When we were out of the harbor, they began serving drinks from champagne, wine, mixed drinks and island specialties. Your glass was never empty and a finished plate was picked up in seconds. You also had the opportunity to go up to the bar and order as well. The service was the best I have ever seen even in a restaurant. Besides that the crew was entertaining and full of a fun spirit. You couldn’t find a better display of aloha.
A bit later, dinner was brought out. It was a sight to see with salads, scalloped potatoes, rice, sushi, the best clam cakes and sauce ever, mahi mahi and ribs. As you were thinking how great this was, out came the prime rib. At this point, I was beyond royalty and felt more like a goddess. The food was delicious and prepared by a harbor restaurant THE BEACHCOMBER. Hats off to Chef Megan and her skills at preparing such a delightful meal, it was so appreciated. The dinner was served buffet style with the crew at your beck and call to keep your glasses full and finished plates removed.
Then came dessert and I wished I had saved more room for that. Out came huge chocolate covered strawberries and Tiramisu with fresh whipped cream. As great as the strawberries were, the Tiramisu was even better. Although very full, I did taste everything!
I can’t say enough about the friendliness and good natured crew. I do have to give a shout out to Luis who was my dancing partner. No there is no formal dancing on the boat but we danced… To add to the great crew, the Captain was one of the nicest people I have met. He was so genuine, with a warm personality. You can tell he loved his job and being with people. We talked for quite a while about everything as his attention was on making everyone enjoy themselves.
8:00 PM rolled around and we had to pull back into the harbor. Everyone was begging for the Captain to miss it while steering the vessel but unfortunately, he was a great Captain. It was a night that I will remember for a long time or at least until we book it again.
The Alii Nui has the royal feast dinner cruises normally on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays. The cruise is $179 per person and well worth it. It is an adult only cruise which makes it great for honeymooners and couples that just renewed their vows. The boat can hold 100 passengers but they limit this cruise to 36 to better serve you. In addition, they will pick you up from your condo or hotel with the Alii Nui luxury van and bring you back home. No worries about too much celebrating because they will take care of you. The Alii Nui means “the highest of royalty” and that’s how you will be treated!
To be fair to the company, they do have other wonderful cruises that they offer. A romantic dinner cruise with their special services is $139. They also offer snorkel cruises from $69 for 3 hours and up to a six hour trip visiting both Molokini and Turtle areas. And yes, they will pick you up and bring you back home.
It would be a great addition to your itinerary when you come for your special day. But imagine having your special day aboard the boat. The Alii Nui does have private parties and loves to cater to weddings. All in one spot you can have your ceremony, a fantastic dinner and include some great music for all of your guests. As was stated, there is no need to worry about the 36 passengers as they can carry up to 100. It would be an adventure wedding that your guests will be talking about for a long time.
